Did you see our most recent Photos of the Day? In our daily series highlighting some of the most interesting images in wedding and portrait photography, the editorial staff asks the creatives behind the photos to detail the backstory and technical approach. Here’s what caught our eye this week.

Flower Girl Leads Bridesmaids in Vogue-Inspired Shoot

When photographer Elle Wildhagen of Kindred Wedding Storytellers asked the bridal party to walk towards her in a fashion-editorial-style portrait shoot, the flower girl did not hesitate. Striking poses and making little noises as she went, she loosened up the nervous line of bridesmaids behind her.

Wedding Couple Revisits Magical Spot from Engagement Shoot

Amy Sims knew it when she spotted the patch of land off the beaten path at the New York Botanical Garden, that she and the soon-to-be-newlyweds she was photographing would need to find it again on their wedding day. “What I couldn’t have planned for was just how incredible the light would be,” Sims says, which helped direct where she’d ultimately place the bride and groom.

Photographer Shoots Beauty Editorial On Her Rooftop

Showcasing the beautiful Barcelona sunset, Alejandra Loaiza ventured up to her building’s rooftop with a makeup artist and model to shoot a beauty editorial that celebrates spring. She hung a cotton sheet as a backdrop and used the natural glow to complement the pink and orange color tones.

Photo Team Can Cover Emotional Wedding Moments From Near and Far

The benefits of a photo team are many, but for Iva Rihtaric of Iva & Vedran Weddings, she valued the ability to be in multiple places at once to photograph this wedding exit in Vienna, Austria. “One of us was concentrated on the wide picture, capturing all the excitement of the guests, and the other was focused on the reactions of the bride and groom,” she says.

Trick to Keeping Couple Close for Portraits: Just Add Water

Taking to the beach, wedding and portrait photographer Jason Van’t Padje, a.k.a. The Raw Photographer, asked the couple, also wedding photographers, to get in the water. Being creators themselves and understanding the good photo op, they were more than happy to get in the water, Padje says, and well worth the chilly temps.
