According to Queenstown-based wedding photographer Jim Pollard (an Rf 30 Rising Star of 2015), helicopters are a relatively common form of transportation in New Zealand. That’s why, for a recent flight with wedding couple Sarah and Jandre, he wanted to land in a location he’d never been before. “I love landing in spots that are totally new to me,” Pollard says. “It means my head goes into overdrive trying to see how I can utilize the situation to its fullest.”
The group landed at Bayonet Peak, where the weather was roughly 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit). With the late autumnal sunlight, beautiful terrain and a strong breeze, the photographer’s instruction to the couple was simple: he asked them to “enjoy this moment they had up there alone together.”
