As One With the Wind

California-based photographer Elizabeth Tsung found herself, on the “windiest day in January,” she says, stuck in traffic for almost two hours in an attempt to do a portrait session for a couple. “We made it [to the beach] just as the sun was at its peak,” she recalls.

“I was good friends with the lovely lady before she moved to Seattle,” though she used to live in Beijing, Tsung explains. “The couple is in a long-distance relationship from Seattle to Beijing, and it was such an honor watching the two of them cherish every single moment they spent together.”

When she first started photographing them, Tsung directed the couple to run into the wind (above). “Then I asked them to pretend I wasn’t there and just enjoy each other’s presence,” she says (below). “It was lovely.”
