There’s something wonderfully cinematic about this photo of a bride walking out of the house after getting ready to make her way down to her husband-to-be. The moment was captured by Nessa K, who says she “liked the bit of mystery of keeping her face out of the photos leading up to the first look, because that’s essentially how they experience the first look. Her stance was the epitome of nervousness and anticipation.”

Harsh daylight can be a wedding photographer’s worst enemy, but the Rf 30 Rising Star (2014) handled it beautifully, simply by exposing for the highlights. “It became a dark photo very quickly,” she says, adding that to achieve this color palette, she touched the highlights with a bit of blue to offset the warmer tones she tends to add to her photos in post.
