Among Pigeons in Paris

Some bird seeds, a beautiful sunrise and a bit of luck were all the ingredients needed to capture this shot in Paris for Philippe Gosseau of Philippe Photography.

The Ireland-based photographer had his models meet at this location around 6:30 a.m. so he could get this orange glow. He laid out the bird seeds and plopped himself on the ground with his camera in hand. To create the silhouette effect, Gosseau measured the exposure on the sky and intentionally underexposed the couple. As the birds flew by, he clicked the shutter, which was in burst mode. “I got lucky with this shot,” Gosseau reflects, “as one pigeon cut across the sun and created another point of interest in the frame.”

(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark IV and Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 lens at 70mm, f/22, 1/640th of a sec and ISO 200.)
