All in the Details

Couple Hannah and Shaun had a rustic, vintage-themed wedding decorated with old wooden cartons and plenty of greenery at the Lange Farm in Dade City, Florida, so when it came time to capture the detail shots, photographer Brittany Trevino of Rad Red Creative was excited to use the on-site props to enhance the image setups.

For the ring shot, Trevino used one of the old wooden crates as a surface to rest the jewelry. Since the groom’s ring was too small to nest the bride’s ring inside of it, the photographer lined the rings up next to each other and added some extra green leaves to the backdrop as a natural setting.

Perfect, right? Not quite.

As Trevino began capturing the rings, she noticed that the incandescent bulbs in the room were creating a color shift. Because the room had plenty of natural light, Trevino asked someone to close the artificial lights. “Once those orange, ugly lights were off, the natural window light was doing wonders,” she explains. “All it took was something that simple to achieve the look of the final photo. It felt really good making all these elements come together.”

(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 100L f/2.8 lens at f/5.6.)
