“As an artist, I think that our hands tell a story,” says photographer Chelsi McFadden, who was attending Let’s Go Workshop in Oregon earlier this month when she shot this photo. “I was trying to capture the essence of his wedding band. I wanted the photo to break the rules and stand out from the other 25 that would be taken that day.” 

She instructed the model, Braxton, to put his hands in front of his face. “He is peeking out from behind his hands with one eye to keep his attention on the future,” McFadden explains, “while protecting his solemn vows to love his own.” And the watch, she adds, is to represent this moment in time. But really, the photographer concedes, “the viewer could interpret this photo in a totally different way, and I would be okay with that too!”
