Who thinks you should put your camera down when you’re not on assignment? Florida-based family photographer and educator Twyla Jones certainly doesn’t. When she’s not shooting other people’s adorable kiddies, she’s got her lens pointed at her own.

“This is actually a photo of my children with my best friend,” says Jones, who intersperses these personal shots into her online portfolio. “We were having a fun beach day and they were climbing up him like a jungle gym. I asked them to give him a hug, and this is what I got. I shot this photo in the afternoon in full sun, which I know a lot of people are a little scared of but when you really embrace it, you can make some unique, dramatic work!”
