On My Radar: Color Crunch

I’m really into Pari Dukovic’s work lately. He gets a terrific crunchy, color-saturated look from shooting film and using continuous lighting (as shown in this image, a portrait of Seattle musician Mike Hadreas of Perfume Genius, photographed for The New Yorker’s September 22, 2014 issue). It’s really refreshing because so many portraits have more of a flat-color look these days, which I find kind of dull. Pari’s photos, by contrast, burn bright.
