Jason Groupp's Morning Survival Ritual
June 13, 2014
It’s been a gloomy week here in NYC, and I have to be honest, it’s been one of those weeks I’m happy is over. Between the weather, some really awful commutes and then—oh yeah—work all day has made this week one for the books.
I love this job, but it’s not always lovely. Each morning as I trudge through the bowels of Penn Station in our zombie parade to the subway, I grab the free daily Metro NY paper to keep my eyeballs occupied on the train. Not only does this paper keep meupdated on all the world’s news, but serves as the perfect pulp shield to everything around me. Some days it’s the gentleman who must’ve lost his toothbrush, others it’s the guy who spilled a bottle of cologne all over him. You’d be amazed how good newspaper smells if you press your nose against it and cover your face.
All that being said, my greatest enjoyment from this commute-shield is my daily horoscope. Today’s horoscope advised me that I should cheer up, and change up my look. My first thoughts were filled with four letter expressions, followed by crumpling up and tossing my trusty weapon into the trash as I exited the train. As I dug into my bag for my umbrella on the street, I fumbled on my brand new bow tie to wear today. A wave of happiness immediately took over my body in a flash of reality. IT’S FRIDAY!!! And I get to spend this weekend with my family, and celebrate Father’s Day.
Cheer up, Charlie Brown, put on that new bow tie, and change your attitude for the better today! Happy Father’s Day—everyone have a great weekend!
Don't forget about our 2nd installment of the Instagram Shot of the Month Contest!
Here’s how to play:
On the 15th of each month, I’d like you to post your image on Instagram, tag @rfwppi and use the hashtag #mypicrfwppi. The only rules are that it must have been shot in the last month (honor system please)! It doesn’t matter what the subject is, what it was shot with or how you made it. To make this even more fun, I’m going to give away three free conference passes to WPPI 2015 each month!
