3 Legged Thing’s New Patti Tripod Is First With Flip-Lock Legs

August 14, 2018

By Greg Scoblete

Tripod maker 3 Legged Thing is famous for its playfully inventive product names and its newest tripod is no exception. Named after rock legend Patti Smith, the Patti is the company’s first tripod to use a flip-lock mechanism instead of friction locks for its legs. (It’s also the brand’s first tripod named after a female rock star.)

Forged from aircraft-grade mangesium alloy, Patti can hold up to 22 pounds of gear aloft. It has four leg sections and three leg angles (23, 55 and 80 degrees). You can extend Patti to a maximum height of 64 inches or as low as 4.3 inches from the ground.

You’ll have your choice of two color styles: grey with a blue AirHed tripod head and accents of copper or matte black with accents of British Racing Green. Patti ships with rubber Bootz which are detachable and can be replaced with the optional Heelz, Stilettoz, and Clawz foot accessories.

Patti ships in September for $120. It is available for pre-order now.
