Sony’s New SD Cards Can Take a Licking (Literally)

Sony’s newest SD cards can take a beating. The SF-G Tough series are bend proof, can survive falls from up to 15 feet and are water and dust proof. Sony says they’re the first to use a monolithic design that is completely sealed with no free space for dust or moisture to sneak in. They have no write protection switch, which can break under stress.

Beyond their rugged exteriors, the cards are fast, with a write speed of 299MB/s and a read speed of 300 MB/s. The cards conform to the V90 SD specification, currently the highest speed for video recording.

The cards include an SD Scan Utility, so you can check that the card is in good condition. They’ll also include  File Rescue Software for recovering deleted data and photos.

The new cards are also X-ray proof, magnet proof, anti-static, temperature proof and feature UV Guard. They’re sold in capacities from 32GB-128GB with prices ranging from $73-$276.
