Wedding Magic and Layer Editing Added to Corel’s ParticleShop [Tech Tuesday]

February 16, 2016

Last August, Corel released a very cool plug-in called ParticleShop (you can read my original post about the software here.)  This cross-platform application is compatible with Corel Photo-Paint, PaintShop Pro as well as Adobe Photoshop (including CS6), Lightroom and Photoshop Elements.

StarterPack

Developed around a series of brushes that use Core Painter’s brush technology, ParticleShop is ideal for adding various brush strokes to transform plain and simple photos into magical images. A recent update to ParticleShop added the 15-brush Wedding pack, which features some interesting new options including Fine Tulle, Fine Chiffon, Fine Veil and Directional Veil to enhance the bride’s look. Add some Light Circles or Bubbles or use the Love or Star Writer brushes to add a little visual romance to the shot. You can go full out and add lots of brush strokes to create a more illustrative image or apply a minimalist touch for a more natural look.

Equally as important is the release of version 1.2 and the addition of non-destructive layer editing. With this update, you can now copy a layer (or merge and copy multiple layers) to bring into ParticleShop. Now you can see where the brushes are being applied and, when you head back into your main editing program like Photoshop, your brush strokes are on a separate layer. Check out the video below to see how to take advantage of this feature.

The $50 starter pack comes with 11 assorted brushes covering a range of effects to get you started. You can also purchase 11 optional, specialized brush packs that come with with 15 brushes each for $30.
