Skylum (formerly MacPhun) is rolling out a new update for its Luminar RAW processor and photo editing software.

The bulk of the updates will impact users working on Windows PCs. Here’s what’s new:

● Faster opening of RAW-files.

● A new white balance functionality and eyedropper tool have been added to the RAW Develop, Develop, and Color Temperature filters.

● You can now save the history of your edits when saving a file, including white balance presets.

● The ability to add custom names to layer.

● You can now set the Canvas background color to white, in addition to the existing gray or black options.

● Support for DNG camera profiles.

● Image transformation controls, including the ability to flip a layer on its horizontal or vertical axis or rotate 90 degrees as needed for compensating for camera rotation. These changes made are also stored in the file’s history.

Mac users will now able to load several third party plugins, including Imagenomic Noiseware 5, Imagenomic Portraiture 3, Imagenomic Realgrain 2, and DxO FilmPack 5.

Skylum is currently beta testing a digital asset manager for Luminar which it expects to release in the fall.
