Lenses
Tamron has a long history of versatile zoom lenses but its newest may be the most intriguing yet.
The new 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD (Model B028) is designed for APS-C DSLRs (Canon and Nikon). Despite its generous focal length, the lens is fairly compact measuring in at 4.8-inches and weighing 25 ounces.
It offers Vibration Compensation good for 2.5 stops of correction, per CIPA standards.
The 18-400mm features a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9 and can focus on objects as close as 17.7 inches.
The lens is weather-sealed and offers a zoom lock mechanism. It’s compatible with Tamron’s optional TAP-in Console for firmware upgrades and feature adjustments. There are seven aperture blades that stop down to f/22 at the wide end and f/40 at telephoto.
The 18-400mm will ship at the end of July in Canon and Nikon mounts for $649. Both will feature an electro-magnetic diaphragm.
