Sigma’s Newest Art Lens Is Coming Soon!

February 9, 2018

By Greg Scoblete

Sigma has a new Art lens up its sleeve, though we don’t quite know when it will drop.

The forthcoming 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM Art is a full frame DSLR lens designed, in Sigma’s words, for “50-megapixel plus cameras.”

It maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and features three FLD glass elements, three SLD glass elements, and three aspherical lens elements.

The lens is weather-sealed and has nine rounded aperture blades that stop down to f/22. You can focus on objects as close as 10.2-inches (at 14mm) with a magnification of 1:5.4

It will be sold in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts. The Nikon version features an electromagnetic diaphragm while the Canon version is compatible with the Canon Lens Aberration Correction function.

With this lens, Sigma is offering a new Front Conversion Service to convert the petal hood into a round component to optimize the lens for use in multi-camera virtual reality rigs. Pricing and availability of the service will be announced later.

The lens is compatible with Sigma’s USB dock for firmware upgrades and the MC-11 mount adapter for Sony cameras.

Pricing and availability for the Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 Art lens will be announced later.
