Photokina 2018: Irix Launches New 150mm Macro Lens

European lens brand Irix is rolling out a new model: the 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 lens for full frame DSLRs.

The 150mm lens sports 11 rounded blades that maintain a circular shape throughout their working range (down to f/32). It’s capable of focusing on objects as close as .92 feet from the front of the lens.

The rubber focus ring has a 270-degree rotation. The weather sealed lens has a focus lock mechanism and an internal focusing system.

The macro lens marks the debut of what the company is calling its Dragonfly design: an aluminum frame enclosed in an external structure made of aluminum-magnesium alloys and composite elements.

The prime lens will be sold for Canon, Nikon and Pentax full-frame DSLRs. It ships with a lens hood, a rigid carrying case and an Arca-Swiss compatible tripod collar. Pricing and availability have not been announced yet.
