Tethered Shooting Made Easy with Benro’s GoPlatform

Tethered shooting is great, but setting up a laptop, especially when you’re out in the field, can be a challenge. (And that’s putting it mildly.) Rather than trying to figure out the best place for your laptop, check out Benro’s new GoPlatform.

SystemGo_CaptureStation

Part of the company’s SystemGo line of products, the GoPlatform allows you to easily set up a camera and your laptop on the same support system. The laptop platform mounts to a longer GoRail, which is positioned horizontally to hold the platform and camera, putting you right next to your workstation as you shoot. The laptop platform is constructed of lightweight aluminum and is vented to ensure good airflow. The platform also includes an outside lip to keep the laptop (up to 15-inches) in place. And if that doesn’t quite offer enough safety for your liking, the laptop can be further secured with the bundled tie-down strap.

The GoPlatform has multiple mounting options and is compatible with virtually any tripod or light stand, but we like the Benro SystemGo tripods for their versatility. The GoClassic and GoTravel, for example, have a “quick-flip” 90 degree center column that doesn’t require any tools to change from vertical to horizontal positions, so you can mount two cameras or shoot from overhead when necessary.  These tripods are available in different sizes and a choice of aluminum alloy or carbon fiber.

The tripods start at $160, while the GoPlatform sells for $125. A long rail will set you back around $30-35.
