It’s been three years since PocketWizard retired the every popular MultiMAX transceivers, but there’s a new MultiMAX in town and version II offers some exciting new features and enhancements.

The MultiMAX’s form factor hasn’t really changed much, but you’ll notice that version II has a blue backlit LCD, which provides better contrast to make it easier to read, and it has a bright backlit keypad so there’s no eye strain (or need for a mini flashlight) when you’re working in dim conditions.

While MultiMAX II retains its predecessor’s unique features, PocketWizard has enhanced a few including one that will please time-lapse photographers: an intervalometer with no limits. According to PocketWizard, MultiMAX II allows you to capture an infinite number of images over an infinite amount of time.

Its 52 channels are broken into 32 standard channels and 20 ContolTL channels. What’s new is the ability to remotely adjust the manual power settings of compatible ControlTL flashes in up to three zones. Even better, each zone can accommodate as many flashes as you want or need.

If you work with multiple cameras and flashes, the improved SpeedCycler will help facilitate your shoot; you can sequentially trigger up to 16 cameras or 16 flashes. After triggering the first flash, the next one fires, allowing the previous flash to recycle so you’re never without a burst of light.

If you’re familiar with the original MultiMAX, you know about its long list of sophisticated features, but if it’s time to refresh your memory, check out the $229 device’s capabilities here and watch the video below.
