Carry Your Gear in Comfort with Cotton Carrier’s New Harness Line

June 20, 2017

By Theano Nikitas

Aching backs and necks, strained upper body muscles and other discomforts are a given when you’re a photographer on the go. We’ve all figured out ways to try to lessen these effects, but it’s always good to have more options, like Cotton Carrier’s new and redesigned G3 Camera Harness line.

Granted, it’s the middle of June and many of us are experiencing a heatwave that makes us want to shed gear (and clothing), but when you’re moving around and need both of your hands free, this new harness line may be the perfect solution—now or when the weather starts cooling down. And you don’t have to be an outdoor or wildlife photographer to take advantage of this new gear, especially if you want to photograph your bride and groom in a spectacular nature setting.

Made of synthetic canvas, the harness allows you to twist and lock the camera to the front to secure it. Cotton Carrier has designed the harness to accommodate a long lens, which can be strapped in place so it doesn’t bounce around. The camera is also tethered, so when you’re ready to shoot, you just twist and unlock to release, but it remains attached. A larger pocket and two small “stash” pockets are available for a water bottle and small necessities. The harness comes with a rain shell, too. Here’s a quick video that shows all the features.

Thanks to its quick-release waist belt with speed straps, the one-size-fits-all harness is easy to adjust. Although I was initially skeptical about how it would fit on women’s bodies, the photos and videos dispelled any doubts.

Lest you think that the products are named after a fabric, they’re not. Andy Cotton is the photographer who’s behind these innovative carrying systems. Available in three styles, the G3 Camera Harness can accommodate a single camera ($119) or two cameras ($159), and you have your choice of charcoal gray or camouflage materials.

You can pre-order the G3 Harness System now on the Cotton Carrier site to get the sale prices of $99 (one-camera system) or $139 (two-camera system). If you order by July 4, you’ll be entered for a chance to win $1,000!
