Nigel John calls himself a people person. “I genuinely want my couples to think of me as a guest at their wedding,” he says, “so as much as I like to hover around the edges and observe, I like to immerse myself into their story even more, which is hopefully where some of the personality comes through.” A self-described compulsive editor who tries to avoid being set in his ways (he rarely shoots with the same lens combination), he says his post-production is “like a Julianna Barwick record—ambient, atmospheric and energetic.” In other words, mood always wins in his book.
