Jacob Murphy takes a friend-of-the-couple approach with his work, having already spent some time either shooting their engagement sessions and/or grabbing drinks and hanging out. “Weddings are all about being surrounded by the pack of people you’ve chosen to do life with,” says Murphy, who began the business with his wife, Ash. “We like to become a part of that pack and our couples to become a part of ours.” He captures frames remembered fondly by the wedding party, as well as scenes and moments that might have gone unnoticed. He uses customized filters and veers toward the look of film, whether he’s shooting digital (with Nikon) or good ol’ Polaroids.
