Years after waving goodbye to the security of his full-time ad job, Jean-Laurent Gaudy now calls himself the photographer that’s “the witness in the shadow,” using his instincts and in-the-moment awareness to make his frames. He likes to surprise his couples mid-wedding day with photos sent to their phones, he adds, editing a selection of them when he gets a chance to eat. “Most of the time their phones are not too far, and I can tell when they see it by the smiles on their faces.”
