“I firmly believe that being a photographer today means, above all, being an author,” says Giuseppe Marano, who likens his photography to writing a journal of memories for his couples. He attempts to keep his editing as realistic as possible, adding, “I think the best part of the work is before the shoot.” Establishing real connections with his clients is his ultimate goal. He keeps his gear simple—about 90 percent of his work is shot with his Leica Q and 28mm lens, though he always totes his Polaroid Land Camera 250, loaded with FP-100c film, and a large-format camera.
