RF Wedding of the Week: Natural Martha’s Vineyard Beauty by Margot Landen (25 Images)

February 27, 2014

Photographer Margot Landen is based in Houston, but as she says on her website, “almost every shoot involves getting on a plane, which I love!”

This has accounted for some gorgeous destination weddings shot by the photographer, whose work has been featured in Town & Country weddings, Harper’s Bazaar and People magazine (most notably for the wedding of actress Lake Bell and husband Scott Campbell—which Landen talks about in the upcoming April issue of Rangefinder).

This week’s wedding is one of the destinations Landen is known for, at the nuptials of Hannah and Eben on Martha’s Vineyard. Landen’s effortless style comes across perfectly in this wedding—good, clean, quality photography without taking on anything trendy or contrived.

“Hannah and Eben are as natural as they come,” says Landen. “They welcomed me with open arms. It is always important to establish a sense of trust and comfort. I felt that immediately with them. As a photographer, your creativity can stretch when the chemistry is right.”

Landen’s gear bag included two Nikon D3s, a Nikon F3 HP, a 50mm f/1.4, 80-200mm f/2.8, 14-24mm f/2.8, 16mm fisheye, 85mm f/1.4, SB-800, SB-900 speedlights and a Lensbaby macro kit.

What was the best part of shooting this wedding? “We just had fun!” says the photographer. “Also, Martha’s Vineyard was the perfect backdrop for their laid-back barn-style wedding. Every inch of the island is a bouquet of charm.”
