When George and Sofia, who reside in Brussels, decided to get married in their hometown of Heraklion in Crete, Greece, the main challenge for their wedding photographers, also from Crete, was the sun. Says Manolis of Me & Georgia Photography: “That day was filled with very intense midday light that we typically have during the summer in Crete. So, the contrast between the bright and the dark spots was very strong and we had to be very careful not to overexpose or underexpose our photos because in many scenes, very bright and very dark spots co-existed.”

When thinking back on the wedding, Manolis says he really appreciates the connection between his wife and partner, Georgia, and bride Sofia. “They were classmates in high school, so that’s how they found us. We were even more happy for that, because when Sofia asked us to photograph their wedding, she didn’t even know if we covered weddings, but she loved our personal photos and trusted our aesthetic. This trust in the beginning of our adventure as wedding photographers is a huge deal for as, and we are extremely grateful to them.”

Manolis says he and Georgia highly anticipated their big day, “and what a day it was! It was filled with laughs, emotion, dancing and love, from the preparation to the ‘cantada,'” where musicians escorted the couple and their friends to City Hall playing traditional music in the streets of the city, “to the City Hall ceremony, to the party and of course the little getaway on day two. We loved every single moment of being around them.”

Manolis and Georgia both agree that the whole day was “just awesome! If we had to distinguish some moments, then one of them would be the moment when George was asked to say ‘I do’ once again because he was just so happy that he wanted to say it over and over again. It was such a funny and moving moment.”
