I realize this is the third wedding of Thierry Joubert's that I've featured here in the past year, but what can I say? His work leaves me completely engaged and taps into the raw emotions of the day in the most simplistic and realistic of ways. There are no bells and whistles—just real people, real feelings and real storytelling.
Take, for example, this lovely same-sex ceremony, held on the beach, in the sand, in the southwestern part of France. Says Joubert: "A wedding is a sharing between the couple and the photographer. Capturing the story of these two girls was a moment of pure happiness. I was struck with a warm feeling throughout the day of their love, joy and kindness."
I personally love seeing how photographers are incorporating same-sex ceremonies more and more into their portfolios. Joubert says that while this one was only his second one, he hopes to get hired for more of them in the near future. "I enjoy conveying couples' love stories...I make no judgements or turn work away. Everyone's story has beauty in it."
