Wedding of the Week

Under the Australian Sun, by Sascha Kraemer

March 16, 2017

When Sascha Kraemer, a wedding photographer from Germany, shot these nuptials in Australia, he reaffirmed one thing: “You don’t need an expensive venue and $10,000-worth of flowers to have an amazing wedding,” he says, “just love and a bit of imagination usually does the trick.”

These two gathered their closest friends and family on the bride’s family’s farm to exchange vows, eat “Aussie country food” and dance the night away. “To me the outstanding thing is how well this wedding reflects Australia,” Kraemer notes. “I think the whole setting on the parents’ farm is just perfect,” and the wonderful Sri Lankan dancers certainly added some color and flair to the photos.

As is typical for most outdoor afternoon weddings, Kraemer says he battled with harsh sunlight during the ceremony, but he handled it well in playing with the dark shadows that resulted. The photographer also mentions that they didn’t have much time for portraits, but luckily he overlapped the time he had with some beautiful golden hour light and roamed the prairies with the couple to bask in their surroundings.
