Photo of the Day

The Dusky Light

Newlyweds Ada and Mark are naturals in front of the camera, so when their wedding fell on an overcast day, photographers Christine and Van of Wild Souls Studio say they got lucky—the portrait session went off without a hitch and the images had a beautiful glow from the grey skies.

“We just asked them to hold each other,” Christine recalls, and then “Ada tilted her head back to move her hair out of her face, and we just loved how her movement and dress made this shot a bit more dramatic.”

Ada and Mark tied the knot in Westmore, Vermont, and had a ceremony with “very calm energy the entire day,” Christine recalls. Shot at dusk, this particular portrait captures the look and feel of the day, she says. “Sometimes shooting later into that dusky light, like in this photo, gives us the moodier portraits that we love.”

(Captured using a Nikon D610 and a 50mm lens.)
