Photographers will often scout a location for hours or days in search of that perfect portrait spot, but for German-based shooter Daniela Marquardt, the perfect portrait spot for this session was wherever the light took her. She captured this couple’s session in a small village in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany. “The location is not very special,” Marquardt notes, “but the light there is magical.”

Located next to a river, this particular location was filled with natural sunlight and glittery reflections on the water. To keep the mood light and energy high, Marquardt conversed constantly with the couple. “When the subjects are moving, they’re laughing and showing their real emotions. Movement, hard light and real emotions are the best things! I love it when my couples can have fun and when I can capture the real emotions without posing. I think that’s exactly what you can see here in her face!”
