There’s something undeniably tranquil about a still body of water, and when captured as an element in a wedding portrait, as Utah-based photographer Cory Devenney has done here, it can produce an aura of peace and harmony.

Captured at the Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah, this portrait was taken prior to the couple’s wedding day. “What’s wonderful about this shot is the perspective,” Devenney notes. “You can see Antelope Island in the background and a little bit of movement in the Great Salt Lake, which brings about a calming feeling.” But what’s most impactful is that the couple blends into the scene without disrupting the stillness around them. Says Devenney, “I really love how they are just little people in such a vast space.”
