A Surprise Handstand

Growing up in the same small town can make people’s connections to each other and the area even more special. That’s certainly how photographer Keith Acedera of Captured Pieces felt with this couple, who grew up together in Cobourg, Ontario, a place he calls small and humble. “I thought it would be a wonderful place to shoot Shannon and Brennan’s engagement session,” he says. “They even told me stories about how they illegally climbed the Cobourg lighthouse near the dock and watched the sunset together there. I don’t blame them, the sunsets in this small town are truly amazing!”

Luckily for the photographer and the couple, the sun was working its golden hour magic during this warm, fall photo shoot. With the light fading, Acedera had stepped back to conceptualize some final shots for the day. But as he was positioning himself, the photographer looked over to see Brennan doing a handstand.

“What’s cool about this frame is that I didn’t even ask him to do a handstand for me, nor did I know he even knew how to do one,” Acedera says. “He just did it on the spot! I’m sure glad I was standing at the right place and at the right time, and I’m glad they were really comfortable in front of my camera.”
