On My Radar: Dimensional Depth by Joanna McClure
December 7, 2015
Still-life photography has been making me drool like it never did before. Inanimate objects are getting the first class treatment, being shot with such vibrant mood, richness of materials and tactile lighting that you can almost taste it. Joanna McClure’s still-life work is a favorite of mine, with its nuanced attention to color and search for abstraction in the simplest compositions. These are photographs that often read like paintings and even when they are used commercially, you can easily imagine them on a gallery wall.
