On My Radar: Cut and Paste
February 4, 2016
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been making collages using images from magazines, but I’m no match for Chase Kahn, who takes it to an entirely different level. He’s still a student, but don’t let that fool you; his humorous yet thought-provoking arrangement of found photographs mashed up with clippings from vintage home journal magazines and mid-century advertisements are a visual feast to behold. There are a lot of photographers working with collage these days, but not many are this memorable. Once I asked him how long it took for him to create each piece (expecting him to say months for each one). His answer: up to five in one night.
