To create the image that graces the December cover, Shuker and this couple, Tom and Lizzie, were taking portraits on a below-zero day. “I seem to recall suggesting that they move in a little closer to get warmer,” she says. “This moment came after a moment where they had both been laughing. I think Tom had whispered something to Lizzie (I often suggest this). This one is the final of eight frames taken over 30 seconds, which went from them laughing to a kiss, and then to this quiet moment.”
