Liven Up Lightroom with New Lens Distortion Effects

May 10, 2017

By Greg Scoblete

Sometimes Mother Nature needs a nudge. If you’re looking to add a bit more natural pop to your photos, a new series of Lightroom effects from Lens Distortions might be worth a look.

The effects are available in three packs: Skylight (lens flares and glow), Accent (glass foreground elements and bokeh) and Forecast (natural fog, rain, snow and stars).

According to the company, all three are derived from optically captured elements (images of sunlight, fog, rain, etc.) and then converted into native Lightroom presets. Unlike approaches that use radial and graduated filters, Lens Distortion says its naturally captured effects offer substantially more detail and realism. You can have a look at the effects in the gallery above.

The effects are rendered non-destructively and don’t require a plugin. They are adjustable with the brush pin in Lightroom and include brush presets for quick application. Effects can be copy-and-pasted to other images.

The effects packs cost $99 each.
