Get Smart: A Guide to Smart Objects in Photoshop

Adobe defines Smart Objects in Photoshop as “layers that contain image data from raster or vector images, such as Photoshop or Illustrator files.”

The benefit of using Smart Objects in Photoshop is that you can make non-destructive edits and transformations to those layers without changing the underlying image, as you can in programs like Lightroom.
