Adobe Introduces a New Spark for Creativity and Marketing [Tech Tuesday]

The Fourth of July isn’t here just yet, but Adobe is already making sparks! Every photographer knows about Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, but Adobe has created a number of interesting apps that aren’t as well known (yet)—among them are the trio of apps that make up Spark. Revamped from Adobe Post, Slate and Voice, and rebranded under the Spark name this past May, the Adobe Spark apps provide tools to create online blog posts, marketing materials and stories all focused on visuals. And best of all: The apps are free (although your projects will include Adobe branding).

The Spark family consists of three iOS mobile apps: Spark Post, Page and Video. For those who don’t have apple devices, there’s also a browser-based web application, Adobe Spark. If you prefer, you can work solely from the web app, which provides access to the browser-based versions of all three apps. And, all your projects will sync across mobile devices if you want to work on them on your iPad or iPhone.

While all three Spark components have a design element, Adobe has made it easy to create attractive, professional looking projects without any design experience. All the tools you need, including design themes, are included and are easy to use. Here’s a rundown of what each one can do:

Spark Post is designed for strengthening your social media message with attractive graphics and messages. You can add images, utilize filters and add text to your layout.

Spark Page is, essentially, a blogging tool. Again, you have your choice of themes and graphics, and can add images as well as other elements.

Spark Video is a bit of a misnomer since you can’t feature an actual video clips. Rather, you can quickly and easily create a video animation from a selection of images.

Spark’s components may seem a little disassociated at times, but you don’t have to use all three. However, if you do, you’ll end up with a full complement of visuals that can be used in a myriad of ways. Hey, they’re free, easy to use and well worth the short amount of time you’ll need to take them for a test drive.
