Profoto will release an Air Remote for Sony cameras next year so that Sony mirrorless owners can control and trigger Profoto flashes.

Unlike its products for Canon and Nikon, Profoto didn’t have to reverse engineer the flash controls in Sony cameras–Sony licensed the technical specs to Profoto to enable the collaboration.

The Profoto Air Remote TTL-S will be available in 2017. Like the existing Air, it will sit on the hotshoe and offer full TTL and HSS capability with Profoto’s Pro-10, D2, B1, and B2 flashes. It has a range of 300 m and uses 8 channels with control over three groups of lights on each channel.

It runs on two AAA batteries with a battery life of 30 hours.
