Profoto's B1 and B2 Flashes Now Play Nice with Canon's 5DS/R

Profoto is giving their B1 and B2 flash systems several new features via a firmware upgrade that went live today.

Among the big updates is TTL metering for Canon’s new 5DS and 5DS R cameras, correcting an issue with over-exposure that some shooters using the new Canons were experiencing.

Canon shooters will also find better all-around integration with the B1 and B2. For instance, they’ll enjoy faster shooting in manual mode, especially when shooting with Canon’s speed demon, the 1D-X. It’s also now possible to select TTL or manual mode in the camera menu instead of only on the Air Remote itself.

The new firmware also tweaks several power-saving features.

You now have the option to deactivate auto power-off, which before turned off both flashes after 60 minutes of inactivity. The Air Remote display will no longer turn black after 30 seconds of inactivity but will instead dim partially after 20 seconds but stay readable for up to 100 seconds before going dark.
