After teasing the world with its forthcoming cinema lenses, Sigma hit Photokina with a few new still lenses to talk about.
Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
This new portrait-friendly prime (pictured above) bring delivers a re-engineered AF system with 1.3X the torque of its predecessor. You'll enjoy full-time manual focus override to dial-in focus even when the lens is set to AF. The 85mm stops down to f/16 and accepts 86mm filters. Its maximum magnification is 1:8.5.
The Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens will be sold in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts. The Nikon mounts feature a new electromagnetic diaphragm to maintain consistent exposure during high-speed shooting.
The Sigma 85mm F1.4 Art lens will be available in late October for $1199.
Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art
The new Sigma 12-24mm f/4 features the largest aspherical glass mold in the industry, according to Sigma. The company promises an ultra-wide zoom with "virtually no distortion, flare or ghosting." It maintains a constant f/4 aperture throughout its zoom range and, like the 85mm, has a new AF system with a 1.3X torque boost. It offers a minimum focus distance of 9.4 inches at 24mm.
It will be sold in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts and the Nikon model uses the new electromagnetic diaphragm.
It ships in October for $1,599.
Sigma 500mm F4 DG OS HSM Sport
The flagship Sigma super telephoto, the 500mm F4 Sport is dust and splash proof, built from magnesium alloy components with a carbon fiber hood, and boasts a water and oil resistant front element. It features a drop-in rear filter slot for polarizers, UV and other 46mm-sized filters.
It uses Sigma's two-mode Optical Stabilizer for keeping images stable when panning or holding the lens stationary. A customizable AF return function lets you set a focus position of choice so you can quickly return to that preset distance. It stops down to f/32 and has a minimum focusing distance of 138 inches.
The new 500mm lens is available in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts and, you guessed it, the Nikon mount offers the new electromagnetic diaphragm. It will set you back $5,999.
