Nikon Adds Ultra-Fast Prime Lens to NIKKOR Lineup
July 27, 2016
Nikon shooters looking for a super-fast, medium telephoto prime lens will have something new to grab hold of come August. Nikon’s newly announced AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED is the world’s first with an f/1.4, the company says.
The full frame (FX format) lens features an electromagnetic aperture control for consistent exposures during high speed shooting. It’s weather sealed and uses Flourine coatings on the front and rear lens elements to make dirt and moisture easier to wipe away.
There’s a 9-blade diaphragm as well as Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat technology to minimize flare and ghosting.
The 105mm f/1.4 will set you back $2,200. It’s available for pre-order now.
Nikon also said that they manufactured their 100 millionth NIKKOR lens in the middle of July. I think I know who’s responsible for a good chunk of those sales…
