Nikon’s flagship D5 is getting a much-needed firmware update to address a video-related drawback in the camera’s original firmware: limited video recording times.

The original D5 firmware only supported 4K recording in 3-minute clips, with full HD recording capped at 10 minutes. The new firmware crushes those caps. You can now record full HD or 4K video for up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds at a time.

Nikon also added electronic vibration reduction when shooting HD resolution videos to reduce blur.

The new firmware, which you can download here, also delivers a few still upgrades as well. There’s now a flicker reduction function to minimize exposure variations and a new 9-point dynamic-area autofocusing option to improve focusing on moving subjects.
