July 2012 From The Publisher & Show Director

by George Varanakis

July 01, 2012

They say all good things must come to an end. After nine years at Rangefinder/After Capture/WPPI, my time is up. I’ve met some of the most creative, imaginative and hardworking people in the world. I really loved getting to know all of you through the shows, magazines, and everything in between. I’ve made a lot of great friendships through the years and had an absolute blast getting to know every single one of you in this crazy industry.

I have to admit that I’ve had more fun in the last nine years than I ever have in my entire life. When I started, WPPI was a 2,000-attendee, 125-exhibitor show. Rangefinder was 70 pages. And AfterCapture was just a mere idea in my head. All properties have grown in ways that I never imagined, including becoming part of the Nielsen Photo Group in 2010 and merging all of our photo related events into one incredibly comprehensive portfolio of educational offerings.

I want to thank all of my co-workers, former co-workers, readers, attendees at the show, writers for the magazines, clients and speakers for putting up with me over the years. You made it easy to come to work every day.

I’ve bled WPPI blue for a long time and it’s sad to leave, but my time has come to tackle a new adventure.

Thank you for all your support!
