February 01, 2012 — Rangefinder is proud to present the winners of our “Seeing The Light” photo contest. Our grand prize winner, Ian Spanier, says he began taking photographs at six years old after his parents gave him his first point-and-shoot camera. After majoring in photography in college, Spanier worked in publishing as an editor, but making pictures never left him. Spanier says he taught himself medium- and large-format photography, as well as lighting. His most current work can be seen at www.ianspanier.com, and his newest book project, Local Heroes: America’s Volunteer Fire Fighters, is due out in Fall 2012.
